Never go to sleep without a request to your subconscious.
– Thomas Edison
Your subconscious loves to do work while your body performs other tasks that are easy. I can prove this very easily by asking you how many good ideas you have had while driving or in the shower. When you are relaxed yet slightly distracted, your mind is often at its best.
Using subconscious requests will…
- Improve your motivation.
- Help you become happier.
- Increase your emotional intelligence.
You’ll see improvement in less than a month.
My last request was…
“Please give me more patience when commuting to work and allow me to even enjoy my time in the car.”
Within a month I was enjoying my ride to work.
My latest request is…
“Let’s find creative ways to grow my blog.”
I took this approach because it’s going to take a request to my subconscious and action in my waking life to make this happen. This request is only a few days old, but it’s already working. Instead of just asking people to help vote for my blog on social sites, I’ve changed my communication. I now friend someone, give a compliment (only if they are worthy), and tell them that they ever need any help to shoot me a message. They are much more willing to help me out.
Mindset
My mindset is changing by setting my subconscious on a certain issue. I start to see new angles that I’ve never seen before. This subconscious request works for personal issues as well as work related concerns.
The 3 step request only takes five minutes:
Step 1: Before you turn out the light, close your eyes and take one minute to make a request to your subconscious. It can be anything. I would start small and make it open ended. I wouldn’t request to be an astronaut by the end of the month. Your subconscious is good, but not that good.
Step 2: Take two minutes to visualize yourself actually able to do this thing. Whether it is getting the motivation to jog before work or eating a healthy snack, you must visualize yourself doing the request that you asked your subconscious. Let’s say you want to jog before work: imagine yourself getting up a few minutes earlier than usual, putting on your exercise clothes and jogging shoes, and heading out into the crisp air. Then you start jogging, watching the sun rise over the buildings, the birds chirping, and you are feeling good.
Step 3: Take two minutes to imagine the feeling that will occur when you are able to accomplish this new thing. How do you feel when you walk back in your front door after a morning jog? Energized? Whatever feeling you want to achieves imagine that you have already created this emotion inside of yourself. Let it sink in, then go to sleep and let your subconscious do the rest of the work.
Your subconscious mind wants to help you improve your life; you just have to trust its vast resources and allow it to do its thing.
Action Makes Your Request Real
You may not want to go jogging after the first subconscious request, but try to visualize yourself going through the motions the first couple of weeks. Then just start putting on your exercise gear and go for a five-minute walk. Taking these baby steps will set you up for your jogging routine. Then after a few weeks just go for it. Now that you have your emotions geared toward jogging it should spur you into action.
By allowing the emotional momentum to build, you can create motivation that will help you accomplish things that make you happier.
Do you have a motivational tip to share? Have you ever tried making a subconscious requests before bed? We would love to hear it. Let’s discuss in the comment section.

Great post! What I love about using our subconscious and visualization is that we are moving toward something rather than trying to escape. For example, it’s much more powerful for me to think about what it will be like to get that new job as opposed to focusing on trying to escape my current one.
Love your blog!
Yeah, this one is nice! I remember when I was in my school my teacher use to tell about the subconscious mind. Sometime we really do wonder if we do believe and act accordingly.. Thanks.. nice to read this and wish to read more from you in future!
As we know your subconcious is very powerful, here is a simple example of how it works, You have them days where you dont wont to get up the next morning, whether its for work or something you have to do, The feeling is so strong that you are imprinting it in your mind, eg; oh i carnt be bothered getting up tomorrow, i dont feel like going to work, i am so tired, and sometimes you say in your mind i know im not going to get up on time, im not going to work, Well you go to bed with these feelings, they get into your subconcious and low and behold, you press the snooze button and your either late for work or whatever you was going to do. or you dont do it at all. Know everybody as felt this, but think of the time you felt this and then maybe you got a call that you didnt have to attend the meeting or whatever you was supposed to of been doing an been cancelled. Well what happens then it the thoughts of having to get up earlier and i carnt be bothered are eliminated as the meeting has been cancelled and so when you retire the thought of having to get up are not in your mind and are not getting inprinted into your subconcious, and what usually happens is you wake up early and say to your self, why does it always happen when i dont have to get up early i always wake up early, because your subconcious ie: yourself hasent talked you into not getting up. So keep away from those thoughts. You are what you think.
Your subconcious gives you motivation
Sorry Angela, but I have to tell you that you have absolutely no idea what you’re talking about. PLEASE do some more reading on what the subconscious actually is and how it works before commenting again.
Seriously, that was a load of rubbish.
That was mean. And not even subconsciously, but consciously.
You might have your own opinions about what Angela has written but I do agree with her. This is how it works my dear. You have just left a quite rude comment without your own point of views which I would have read with great interest if that made sense to me. I believe you should leave your idea about ”What the subconscious actually is”, so we know how much reading you have done as well.
I look forward to reading what you have to share about the wisdom of knowledge you have re the ”Subconscious Mind”, my fellow friend.
It actually made total sense, and you have no idea what you are talking about. I suggest not making any more comments of your idiotic opinions in the future…maybe use your subconscious mind to do that.
i really appreciate
You have put it very nicely Angela. Yes we have to replace our negative thoughts with positive thoughts to lead a more successful life.
I really enjoyed reading this blog; it only increased my faith and belief in the “subconscious mind!”
I agree, but i replace the subconscious with faith and God
Awesome way to put it! I’m at work as I write this and was just thinking, how can I escape? You put a new twist on it, visualize how great it would feel when I get the new job….I needed that. Thank you for your post :-)
really its amazing.brilliant!i have always admired the power of subconscious mind.
Great post – it is a shame people do not appreciate the power of their unconscious mind so good job for pointing out its potential. Most people scramble their unconscious mind by doing exactly what you describe here with negative future events. Which means that they are potentially praying for bad things to happen to them! Because this happens outside their conscious awareness it becomes a blind spot. One of the best pieces of advice I got was to ‘watch your thoughts’. Become aware of your habitual thought processes and choose to change them. Use your unconscious mind to create a future you want rather than one you don’t want. As an addition to this process you can refine your outcome by ‘talking it out’ either to yourself or to someone else.
thank you for reminding me of our habitual thought process… one I seem to forget about – too frequently!!
I have heard many people who probably use their subconscious while praying and believe god is bringing them what they ask for.
Focusing on your needs or desires like this works well for what’s within you, in your power; but very poorly when you try to change some or something else.
I agree to this one. I myself usually thinks of worse things to come and I notice that in the long run they really come. Whatever I think will happen in the future really happens. So its like I have this power in my mind to think things over and let it happen but I just don’t use it in the right way. Now I understand why and I have to start doing it the right way. That is thinking of positive things and letting it sink in to my subconscious so the outcome is good instead of bad things.
Very nice post.
I 1000% agree with you because same happens here!!! Onwards and upwards :-)
Our subconscious mind has vast energy to unleash all you use to think that is impossible.
‘Is there any laws that we have to adhere to in order for us to use our subconscious mind more effectively?’
Nice article!
Subconsious can be the factor which decides whether you are going to do something or not. But don’t let it overrule rational thoughts!
Thank you!
This is a great post. I find myself using my subconsious mind in almost everything that I do. Especially when it comes to going after my goals and dreams. We first have to visualize it, and imagine being successful in whatever it is that we desire. Before you know it, that visualization becomes a reality. It definitely got my butt in the gym this morning, with a migraine.
is your avatar a sigil? that’s ultimately the greatest/most fun way to communicate to the unconsciousness with your intention.
….in my opinion, of course.
Karl,
Great tips. I think the quote says it all. I did this all the time in grad school, especially when it came to my statistics class! I’ve not done it in a long time…thanks for the reminder. I know it works. Me in stats, imagine that! I got an A- in the class!
Wish I came across this and tried it before! I almost failed my stats class! :(
What an interesting notion – utilizing your subconscious to achieve your goals – I love it! I’ve definitely had nights where I’ve gone to bed visualizing the next day, but I never realized until now, that that is truly effective. I’ll be making this a more regular practice now!
Great post Karl. I think the subconscious mind is one of the best tools to help us succeed in life. When you truly take the time to tell you what you want, it will make it happen for you. It does take a lot of training to direct our thoughts into the right direction, but in the end, it really helps us take control of our life. Thanks for this!
Karl – interesting post! I have often considered whether this has the same effect as prayer…i.e. is prayer to God actually talking to our subconscious? It sounds like the same process I use when praying, and I have found that for me, prayer is very effective. What do others here think?
Hi Dan,
I like your analogy. I think prayer and is contact with the subconscious mind, or the unconscious mind, or God or Intention. The name matters little, only that we understand there is an animating force that creates our world. This force works moment-to-moment, and we can contact it with our own Awareness.
All contemplative practices make use of this one truth, that all of our world is evidence of Universal Mind moving into matter.
Asking my subconscious is asking a lower power. Prayer is communicating with a higher power. Our last thought before going to sleep reveal much about us. Prayer can also be making ourselves available, not just asking. Surrendering to God, making requests for ourselves and especially others put our subconscious to work for us, and God.
I disagree. Because what if the higher power isn’t listening, but the lower power is, and your request becomes reality. It wasn’t the higher-up who helped you, because he was a little too busy listening to someone else.
Don’t under estimate your own mind.
The Higher Power is always listening. Thinking it isn’t is to blame it for your problems. The subconscious is not a lower power but part what relays your choices to the creation mechanism of the Universe. Don’t fall into the trap of pointing fingers at the divine. That’s the classic ego trip – playing victim. You have the power to shape your life and everything is set up to support that power.
Hi Karl – Thank you for the Edison quote .. I’d heard people say they sleep on things .. but don’t believe I’ve seen that quote before. Your post makes absolute sense – especially the three guiding points at the end .. I’ll do it tonight .. excellent thought.
So very true, though I find it works most effectively on discrete problems with a concrete solution (eg physics, math, programming), though I have received great ideas as well. Im pretty sure everyone has had this happen too, such as when you wake up in the morning and the answer to whatever you couldn’t figure out the day before is just waiting for you like a brain email.
I can relate to this. Countless times over the years I woke up with the answer to programming issues “in my face”, without even asking. Realizing this happens makes it easier to push away from the keyboard at midnight instead of uping the caffeign and moving on into the 3 AM / grumpy tomorrow cycle.
i absolutely agree. :)
Hi Karl, good blog, I agree that the subconscious mind can come up with the most amazing, fresh and innovative ideas for achieving almost anything. The sub-conscious just offers these ideas up to your cognitive mind free of charge, like a working dog, happy to please.
I’ve been experimenting with ways to best make requests to the sub-conscious. In my case it likes to be asked. I some times tell my sub-conscious that I “will” do something (that I wish to achieve) and it is generally less creative when given a direct statement like this. It behaves more like a partner that wants to try and solve an issue for you, if you ask for its help.
Dan, I also some times I ask by praying. I make a request to God. I think of God as a part of me and a part of everything else. And as part of my subconscious mind, God is a never short of a good idea.
I’m going to go the visualizing and the imaging the feeling tonight. Cheers peeps!
i agree with your whole blog completely. I just found this out a couple years ago an have been practicing it since. I kind of feel like its a form of what the religious call “praying”.and iwill go ahead and put this out there but this idea sounds crazy.. but if you just give it a shot an have patience enough to see the results the it will blow your mind..

Awesome advice and I needed to hear/read this today.
It’s good to hve these simple, practical steps to take. The power of our subconscious is truly amazing but sometimes we don’t know where to start, so thanks for the practical advice.
This is crazy. I was just talking with a friend the other day who was telling me he could manipulate his subconscious. He said he could also manipulate his sleep patterns too.
Crazy stuff. Great article.
Thanks
This is a great post. My tip for anyone who has trouble believing in the power of their subconcious is to go trip on some acid, have your ego shattered unlock the unlimited potential of the human mind unlocked in a fun exciting mind blowing experience. After that go out there and do whatever the hell you want.
Exactly, I see alot of posts on here that talk about using this technique for getting that new job, finishing work, ect… these are all well and good, but their missing the big point here You can use this technique to change yourself. What are somethings you do that cause you stress; procrastinate, are lazy, less than nice to others, (anything).
These are the things that this power should be used for not just some small gains in the physical world because that’s what all gains are in that realm are. Mental gains stick with you till the end.
reads exactly like a common before bed time prayer. are you trying to tell me that it wasnt god that was doing all those things we prayed about!?
We are all god!
What sense does that make? We are all god? Do you mean that we all make up god? What is your definition of god?
god is in all of us, is that better?
We are an expression of God, “creations” that are made up of God, God pretending not to be God, pretending to be many things instead of One.
As some people already said, we are all part of God. God is not a person or a monster or ghost like many people imagine, god is a power/intelect that is not in one place, it is in all the universe at the same time.
@Live Very well defined. and I strongly agree with you!
it is exactly what a night time prayer is; meditation. i want to say i believe in god but so many things point to there being no GOD. ya i have witnessed amazing things happen to people at camps and at church and i’ve seen the power that christian love has, but it could all happen without a “god” The bible seems to me that it is wisdom of the ages. i think much of it is true and the rest is made up in order to make you a better person. If you are giving and honest one can generally be happy. If you pray or meditate every night about something then there is a better chance that it will be on your mind or subconscious. If i said a prayer every night asking god to make me a millionaire. I might someday become a millionaire. not because of god. but because everyday i thought about making money. If you pray every night for somebody who is sick in the hospital. I don’t believe that the prayer will actually heal the person, but it will probably remind me that i need to go visit them or at least send a card. The prayer lead to an action on my part, not god.
Just some thoughts would love feedback
That sounds VERY interesting, Karl.
I’m giving this a try. I’ll report back once I get specific results :)
Great tips. I think i did this subconscious thing without being aware of what i am really doing. i motivate myself for more than 1 year to lose weight and finally i accomplished it (lost 18 kilograms in 9 months).
can you pls give me more details… i know there’s gotta be a way of controlling it with your thoughts.
Extender…..
Take the time to Read and practice the principles discussed in Dr. Joseph Murphy’s book, The Power of Your Subconscious Mind.
It takes discipline and Desire.

The Power of Your Subconscious Mind
This sounds like it has more to do with using the power of our minds to motivate and grow ourselves. You don’t even have to just do it before you sleep, though I’m sure that’s a good time to do it. I’m sure that’s why a lot of people feel good after they pray before bed.
I think the amazing part, and the tragic part to people who are lost in this world, is that our minds are capable of doing anything we want, to grow and learn what we need to work hard. Unfortunately there are things outside of ourselves, people even who want to hinder our growth because it might mean their product or service is irrelavent. This exists on a small scale as well as a large scale, for example, the banking system.
So, basically this is the same thing as praying. If you believe it hard enough, your mind/body might just make it happen…or make you think it’s happening.
The subconscious is a very powerful part of our success. I’m so happy that all of you agree.
@Dan – I agree with the concept behind prayer being similar to a request to the subconsious. I believe it’s our subconscious that has a more spiritual connection than our conscious minds. The more we practice this concept, the better connection we have with something greater than ourselves.
Peter, you have an amazing community here. I’m so glad you let me be a part of it. Thank you everyone and hope your requests happen quickly.
Well done! and Yes!
This is the first post I read in months. very interesting and full of positive ideas.. great job….
Great post. One of the first things to ask is to be able to differentiate between desires of the ego and true desires. Thanks, great technique.
Divesting oneself of EGO allows the Power of the Subconscious Mind to Really explode in all Positive Direction
^ true story
This is just what I needed! Thank you!
I’ve been having a rough time staying motivated and this is perfect! I will definitely give it a try!
Great article. I know that saying just “great article” is a bit lame, but it really was a great article!
I have been using a similar kind of methods to make some improvements in my own life. However I hadn’t sat down and considered that what I was doing was using my subconscious mind to train myself. I will have to put a bit more effort into this I think.
Thanks again, Karl.
Karl,
Nicely put. Succinct and actionable!
Two points of clarifications:
1) If someone is 5’7″ and 300 pounds attempting to become an astronaut would be a poor use of this law of the subconscious mind. Better to ask the subconscious to give them insights into what work they should be doing. I think we are designed, each of us, to serve a role in the Universe. It’s our job to find that role and then do it.
2) Without actively using the subconscious, the opposite is also true. Failure to positively influence our subconscious yields failure and frustration. In other words, the methods you suggest are not optional.
We discussed these points in Tuesdays Talk Show discussing The power of your Subconscious Mind, by Dr. Murphy

Based on the fact that “we are one”, our subconscious is the gateway to everything that was, is and will be. It is a vast source of information, learning how to cooperate with it can only improve our lives.
You have very beatifully written the enormous power of the subconsious mind. I truely believe in it & have experienced the same. Life is really simple, lets not make it more complicated!!
Lets grab the power, wisdom & peace.
Thanks again, Karl.
Great advice! Making the request, envisioning, and action, make it all come together! So many want to change, and they can even make the request, but when it comes to doing something about it, well, that’s where the rubber meets the road!
Hi Karl and thanks I am really going to have to try this. Sounds like fun too. I have blog and so much stored in my brain from all my years walking around that I just want to share it.
I’ll let you know how I’m doing.
Thanks again for the great tip.
Debbie
Hey Karl :)
Beautiful, beautiful, beautiful. I’ve said similar, and I love and respect anyone else spreading a similar message.
I love the name of your blog, the look and feel, and I’ll definitely check out more.
Even those involved in the gentle lampooning of self-help (as I am) have to admit that telling your subconscious what’s what is the only way to keep it in line!
Karl~ I have always wondered why my best ideas came while I was in the bathroom. Great article!
Do you know that I always listen to the universe and believe it keeps me attuned to messages meant to help me along in life. As I write this I am sitting in my sister’s house in Texas, a long way from home in Western Australia. Our mom has recently been diagnosed with cancer and so my husband and I made the bee-line here to spend 4 weeks with my family and to maybe see my mom for the last time. This is the most hardest thing I have ever experienced in my life. I have a wonderfully supportive husband and incredible friends who have all given me the right advice which is to constantly bear in mind my purpose here is to be in the moment and enjoy the time I have with my loving mother and family, though I can’t help feeling depressed and crying every day. I do realise that I am wasting precous time and have been wanting to create value from my time here. Tonight before I go to sleep, I will visualise myself smiling through my tomorrows, to actualise the joy and gratitude I feel in my heart, rather than feeling and being depressed. Thank you for that powerful message and timely reminder.
I’m not trying to lecture you here just trying to help, but I had to make a comment on this not to prove you wrong, but to help you. I too did the same thing; I searched for meaning and messages hidden in everything, but what this did, with out me even realizing it, was take me out of the moment. During this period all I ever thought was how it could effect ME(I put emphasis to establish importance not ridicule), and it coincidentally distracted my mind from what was really around me.
My advice take it or leave it the choice isn’t mine:
Trying to experience the world through a lens of lessons is just another lens removing all lens’ is what gives true sight.
I’m not seeing how using subconscious suggestion before falling asleep can take you out of the “Now”. Your “mind” is your ego’s home. The “Now” is your larger awareness of your connection with all living things. It sounds like this where you want to be. It will come. You might try the subconscious suggestion of: “Let me stay in the Now and still operate easily in the world.”
I am truly sorry to hear about this honey and I totally admire how you are trying to deal with it; this is a subject matter very close to my heart. You are so right about appreciating the time that we have left instead of wasting it and I am trying to do the same thing at the moment myself and with a will, we will get there somehow.
Thank you for sharing your story and I am sorry to say it did make a little weeping considering; but I will do my best to try to visualize the same and try to do the same as you tonight before I go to sleep, and I am going to try this; because regardless of how accurate or not it is on the sub conscious mind of actually something we know little about how it works really, is not too much of the issue, the fact is, there is no harm in trying this out and it will either work or it won’t can’t know if it will work unless you try it out. So thanks also Karl for the positive article because the power of our minds is actually incredible and we all have at least HAD fleeting moments somewhere in our life where we have doubted the power of it.
It’s good to hear a bit of positivity for a change and just something new to try which isn’t dangerous and might work wonders. So cheers, I’ll give it a go.
Keep your head up Rachel and good luck xx
i wonder if this would work with depression?
like, “i request that tomorrow i will not be sad”?
i hope it works:)
You know strangely enough I actually did discover this on my own. What you have done though has still helped. You’ve just given me a lot of ammo to prove to my friends that I’m not crazy for believing that the mind works can be switched to manual. So thank you very much.
Also anything that helps people just enjoy life more in general is a great thing to share. If you have anymore mind works idea you should post them as well.
Hello. I’m now in a really really bad place wich I won’t bore you with, and I was looking for an answer to stop feeling what I’m, feeling… and just when I stop looking and lost all my hope, This come to my mail.
Thanxs a lot for this post. You can say now that you have really really helped at least one person (I know theres a lot more). But in a wany or another I see this as it was written for me.
Thanx again
This post is actually a direct link to one of my most favorite books called Psycho-Cybernetics by Dr. Maxwell Maltz. Maltz covers this very concept with very crisp instructional detail as well as makes numerous connections to many people (usually somewhat famous like Michael Jordan, Jack Nicklaus, or Thomas Edison) who employ these very tactics. Not only do they work, but the help you quantify your life and squeeze every bit of vitality out of life without will power or strain. Maltz gets into the details of not only how to utilize this subconscious mechanism (which he calls the “Automatic Sucess Mechanism”) but also talks about success and failure-type personalities, performing well under pressure, and developing a healthy self image of that person in the mirror you see every day and many other insights into life. I highly recommend this book to everyone I’ve ever met that expresses any amount of interest in learning more about how to succeed and be happy in life and also someone who wants to learn more about the world, human behavior and themselves.
Thanks for this post!
If you’re curious, the ISBN number is 978-0735202856 (ISBN-13).
I haven’t stopped reading this book for the past 3 years since I heard about it. Because you never cease your growth as a person, so you always have something to learn from it.
Cheers
There’s also an audiobook version of this book on iTunes if you’re not much of a reader…It was the best $20 I think I’ve ever spent.
That’s awesome.
I also use this technique frome time to time but this article is really greatly organized.
Thank you! Voted Up and tweeted.

I agree with your post.
Meditation and relaxation are 2 great techniques to improve your mental and physical health and program your subconsciousness to whatever you want to achieve.
I am a big fan of Jose Silva and his Ultra Mind training techniques – practicing Silva’s system for about 6 month I feel much happier and better than before :)
Cheers!
isn’t that what we christians call praying, praying before you sleep
Nice post.
The power of the subconscious is sadly so very underestimated in our culture, everything starts in the subconscious, every idea and tjhought starts there.
Without the subconscious there would be no creativity or change in my opinion, it is the womb of new stuff to come and if you give it to eat then it will grow for you to give you back much more.
Keep it up buddy good post!
Now that u’v shown dis to me in writing.. Will surely put it in action.. Have always had my Motivational and Creative energy just fizz away..everyday…and makes me think everytime about what I could’ve done with the day!
Thanks for the post..Might do good things to my life..
Do drop in to my BLOG..www.sinfulsermons.blogspot.com..whenever you get the time..TC
Hey man, Right On. Ive been doing this same thing and it really helps. Jog on Haters This shit is da truth!
What people don’t understand is that is is very true, “You are what you think you are.” so when you go to sleep at night visualize what and where you want to be and let the mind do the rest.
Debbie
I just read a book called Psycho Cybernetics. It talks about programming your servo-mechanism. Very similar to what you’ve shared. I recommend you check out that book, or maybe you already have. Good post! Nice blog!
Oh, looking over the comments I see Cameron has already stated this haha. I feel foolish. none the less good blog.
I’ve never heard of this technique nor that quote. This is absolutely brilliant thank you for sharing this.
very very true. thanks for sharing. am gonna get connected to my subconscious now before i sleep. :)
great tips.. i’m going to try this tonight.. i need to start doing my undergrad thesis.
Great Post, Karl. Moreover I got it when I needed the most. Thank you very much
Very Nice, I have been practicing this for years.A simple one I have mastered is to tell my self what time to wake up in the morning…Planting the time in my subconscious before I go to sleep at night.. I wake up every time.I Have not used an alarm clock for years.
My motivational tip has to do with losing weight. I’m on ‘The 5 Pound Diet’. I only have to lose 5 pounds. When I think about food choices, I remind myself “I only have to lose 5 pounds”.
Once I lose the 5 pounds, I celebrate….. and then decided if I want to go back on the diet or not.
Down 15 pounds so far and it’s the easiest diet I’ve ever been on.
Fantastic article Karl!
I had a book on a similar topic that was written back in the 1970s, but I lent it out to one those people who never return things, so it’s gone. Recently, I’ve been struggling to recall the portion about making requests via our subconsciousness prior to sleeping, so your article is right on time!
The only thing I would add to it (which perhaps you cover in your e-book) is the practice of expressing faith & gratitude to God or whatever all-powerful supreme substance we believe in advance when we make our requests.
Gratefully & Respectfully Yours…
Shane
Great advice, I am going to try this out and see if it helps
Nice, though I think that sounds like praying. I do so a lot and I often have similar results. God must be listening to your sub conscious requests.
Nice post! I tend to do a similar thing before going to bed. I plan my following day and say what will happen and what will be achieved and it hasn’t let me down yet. :)
I like your post. I agree with the thoughts shared. Days when I plan my day ahead are usually fruitful the next morning. I agree that we should always go to bed with thoughts in our subconscious mind such that when we awake the next morning they are embedded in the mind (tabula rasa) and it’s as if the actions and plans for that day are already completed hence it becomes much easier to follow through on the plans of that day.
Thanks for sharing this useful information. I’ll try to do the 3 step process and observe changes
Cheers
Very concise and powerful.
Thank you for this amazing post. Will be sharing with all my fellow business builders.
Katrina
thanks for sharing your insights :)
Excellent. I know what I’m doing tonight!
Superb post. I didn’t know we had the possibility to command the subconscious mind and see the results unfold. That is magnificent. the mind is really vast and plenty of resources. I will certainly try your tips. Looks worthwhile. I want to get the good feeling as well.
i believe in this. rewiring our brains may be the key to achieve what we want in life. i usually attract the things that i need when i ask the universe for it.
This is similar to “Think And Grow Rich” where the author visualizes meetings with Edison and other people to achieve his dreams.
Exactly what I was thinking too! That book goes much further into using the power of positive thinking and self fulfilling prophecy.
I like the words “baby steps”. I started using that approach this month to change my life and it is working. Perhaps, I would share more next time.
Fantastic summary.
Here is a unique tip to tap into the subconscious mind.
I use sex energy to magnify an intention that I wish to engrave into my subconscious.
Set your intention then focus on this thought when you are aroused.
It really does work! It even works for healing.
I had a head cold coming on the other day so my intention that I combined with arousal was simply “I am strong”
A few orgasms (yes I am a woman) later my energy was elevated, my headache was gone and the next day I had shaken the cold completely
For men it works best without an orgasm because the response is a drop in energy rather than an elevation.
Have fun,
Cheers!
I think orgasms work on many headaches – they seem to clear the sinuses. Intentions, subconscious, are not needed in this case (but can’t hurt either, Im sure).
hey thats really a nice post!!!! u know i really do this in my life, infact its like a daily job for me….. and its really cool doing such things…
Thanks for sharing, I have been doing that for the past couple of months and its really helped me with my motivation and performance, It takes 21 days to tell your brain to react in thsi way.
Thanks
I have tried a simplified version of this. Mine takes more like 30-60 seconds and is still effective. I just close my eyes, state something I want to accomplish a couple of times (in my head or out loud if I am alone and it doesn’t make me feel ridiculous), and have a few visuals with these sentences if it is something that lends itself to visualization. Sometimes it is not though. If, for example, I am training myself to act differently in interpersonal situations. I imagine a more thorough approach like this would work even better. Also, it is best to do this right before going to bed and right when waking up. However, if either would interfere with your routine, than within fifteen minutes to half an hour is still effective if less so. This is because your brain is half asleep at these times, or at least mine is.
Interesting… Actually i think i’ve been doing this since child… But not in a constructive way! I’m most of the time dreaming awake, and always it’s impossible things (unnatural, supernatural XD) and what i can say about my life is big sense of unaccomplishment… Most of the thing i wish will never happen (some of them at least will never happen in my life time) and this really frustrate me (allergy to reality)!
Think i can adapt using it for a constructive path but still… (i’m never gonna see those stars….. -___-‘ )
You gave-me a god time of reflection! Thanks for that =)
If you are into the power of the subconscious mind then I would strongly recommend that you read The Power of the Subconscious Mind by Joseph Murphy – it is fantastic. I have extracted quotes from it and placed them in my diary and repeat them on a daily basis and since doing that my life works exactly as I intend it to. So go for it get this fantastic book and use it as a reference. Thanks for your information. http://www.recommended.ie Aomos
This StumbleUpon is great. It takes me to the great websites I would hardly find on Google. This is one of them. Thank for the great article.
I asked my subconscious yesterday to give me an idea for a new website through which I could earn money. And I woke up with the greatest idea ever :-) I have spend all day thinking about it and I am sure that it will be implemented soon. This evening I have another question for my subconscious.
Interesting blog!
Usually in the mornings after my alarm goes off, when I’m very tired after getting few hours of sleep, I close my eyes and imagine myself getting up out of bed, taking a shower, doing my hair, putting on my make-up, putting on my clothes & leaving for school feeling refreshed, energized & the best feeling of all: well-rested. It helps a lot. I usually allow myself to imagine this for about 5 minutes time and those 5 minutes end up feeling more like 20—it definitely gets me motivated to get up and start moving.
Thanks for helping me realize what I was doing! I plan to do this more often.
Thank you for this, I will incorporate this immediately into my life. God know I could use it.
This is exactly how I quit smoking. I was on an god awful comedown and I started thinking how nasty smoking cigarettes were and how it was hurting me. I was having trouble breathing and I think i had a panic attack or something close to it. Anyway, I went to sleep repeating in my head that I wouldn’t smoke anymore. I imagined how much money I would be saving and how easy it would be to breathe. Now, I didn’t just wake up and stop smoking. But I drastically cut back and on December 31st 2009 I had my last newport. I know that not everyone can be as lucky as I am, but it’s what works for me. I didn’t even realize it was something I could control until I read this article. Next is to keep my heart healthy.
Ex-smoker: That’s the same as self-hypnosis.
The challenge with me is: consistency in doing this. How would you address this?
Last year, financially and spiritually, was a terrible year such that I could not do those things that you mentioned above…
Before that, for years I was doing something similar to what have you mentioned.
Perhaps, my experience with life in last year was a test of my faith and determination.
Good Luck
i would like to share this…i think i would be cool if you added a Tumblr link to share!!! great post!
I “stumbled” upon your blog & fell in love. I’m truly inspired. Thank you. :-)
in the last few weeks, the only thing I could visualise before sleep was me-sad, not knowing what and how to solve my problems. Yesterday, before sleep I ASKED (God) to find an answer to my questions – how to go further, how to make things work into my life, how to succeed, how to make to remain strong because I feel completely lost … and today the answer was your article, which I find amazing. I now believe it. It really inspired me to believe that this could be the answer to my question, I will use the same trick to make my subconscious work for me. It is amazing. Thank you :)
Liked your post. Reminded me of Rhonda Byrons’ “The Secret” where she mentions about Ask, Believe, Receive. When you ask and believe that you will receive you prayed for, you do receive…..and believe me – It Works. She also mentions that when one travels from the West all the way to the East by road in the night – the headlights only show a couple of hundred metres, but then you drive all the way across. Life unfolds in the same way, taking you to your destination, because you want it…….how very true.
i generate my best most creative solutions in the shower or walking my dog or swimming. i can’t wait until tonight to begin using my subconscious in this new to me way-wow thank you so much-this page was my first stumble this morning (stumbleupon.com) great way to begin today!
This seems like its really going to help. I can’t wait to get started.
In a way…praying right before bed can prove this as well.
For me, when i’m really tired my prayers are relatively subconscious
and then i drift off to sleep.
My usual subconscious request before going to sleep is to wake up early. If I have to wake up at 7 am, I visualize the time in the morning and mostly I do wake up before the clock goes on. otherwise I am not able to wake up. snoozing and sleeping for a couple of hours always made me late for work.
a good one ; simple yet powerful….thanks for the motive….may God help us with it…
Great post, this advice gets people to take a few minutes to put things in perspective and allows them to focus their energy on what they truly want. Great advice and well written in such a concise style.
This is great stuff – seems like Karl has discovered the Law of Attraction.
We are generally brought up to believe that we are not powerful as individuals by western society and some religions emphasise this. We actually are not subservient to anything but rather we are an integral part of all that is – the Universe – God. It is only human intervention that states otherwise.
The Law of Attraction states this wonderfully. More information can be got here:
http://www.abraham-hicks.com/lawofattractionsource/index.php
There is some wonderful enlightening material here in video clips of Esther Hicks in action.
I read and bookmarked your post a few weeks back, only to stumble upon this today:
Be careful what you water your dreams with. Water them with worry and fear and you will produce weeds that choke the life from your dream. Water them with optimism and solutions and you will cultivate success.
Lao Tzu
Thanks!
Asher
even imagining bad things or things you don’t want them to happen, makes them happen.
you attract what you imagine with gusto.
Great article! My favourite quote goes right along with what you’re saying in this post:
“Thoughts become things” (so always choose the good ones!)
Good thoughts coming YOUR way from me!
-Carmin
I agree with this. I would also add letting the subconscious do its thing. Great stuff! I’ll be using this. THANKS.
whatever it is you are feeling is a perfect reflection of what is in the process of becoming
Albert Einstein
Hey
thanks for this great idea.
I know it’ll work, because a few months ago I tried to better myself, and I used this technique, without knowing. I’ve read this and I suddenly realised I did exactly this, and i’m alot happier with myself, and there is a significant change in how people react to my presence. They are alot more open and friendly.
When I was done reading, I suddenly realised why people pray to God on the side of the bed, before going to sleep. This story tell’s exactly the purpose of that habit, even though people might not realise that.
So thanks for explaining me how I made this change happen for me and giving me the knowledge I need to keep on the right path.
Greetings
Me.
I absolutely love the fact that you are showning Humans the Secerts of their Subconscious…
Our humans seem to know so little about themselves the Powers they Hold to Change Everything…
I kindly invite you to watch this youtube film, it’s free… I Promise you will see yourself differently…

Really excellent post….
I’m the only one in my family who has been interested in dreams and the subconscious and my friends do not really care either, but I’m glad to see this. I do something similar to this except I write a request, and then I write my dreams in a journal the next morning and then interpret the symbols. I don’t use a symbol dictionary though I usually think about what the symbol means to me. Just throwing another idea out there for anyone who is as interested as I am :]

it’s two monthes now, the first time i was introduced to this power…
since then, i noticed that i was attracted to people who know or do “the secret (LOA)”…
then i wished i become part of a larger global group working or just talking about it….
and now i’m here with you guys, i know we are not a true group, and guys come and go but it’s real that i’m part of something global…
i didn’t search for the LOA, actually i stumbled here accedentally, using the StumbleUpon software.
here’s the thing, the more you use the LOA, the more you understand it…. at first i figured out that LOA cann’t be used with softwares, because you know, softwares use logic 1+1=2 then 2+1=3
and no matter what you do 1+1 always will equal 2…
until then, i was kind of depressed, “oh no i can’t wish winning anything on tv by sending sms’s”
so whatever my wish, it was prohibited because contiouslly i wasn’t convinced it was going to happen.
but some softwares also depend on “time”, so there’s a factor you can control with such softwares. TIME, you chose when to paricipate….. so i did let the time thing be done by the LOA and it woooooooorked.
I like it! It looks easy
Thanks 4 the post!!!
Check out my new Squidoo web site: http://www.squidoo.com/SuperMindES
I put together some good resources on how to train your subconscious mind to achieve health, happiness, and whatever else you want to achieve :)
Have a great time exploring!
Marina
This sounds kind of like meditation.
no, actually this is not meditation… meditation requires time, ability to make it a habit, body physique and alot of concentration…
but this, this is easy, fun, and it works.
meditation is good thing, but not for me. meditators ! you are great.
o ok.
I write it in my own god blog dairy, it works for me. We all just have to find what ever method of tapping into our subconscious works. The written word is good cos it uses some more senses (vision) to register the message. Try it. Give it a chance. Adopt it if it works for you. :)
What a fascinating concept. I have been going thru some hard issues lately, and I am going to try this starting tonight. thank you for sharing
The challenge, for me, is to believe that my subconscious can actually work on my behalf. Reading this article has helped me challenge that lack of belief. Now I’m looking forward to the results :)
Amazing blog! I’m 16 and I’m glad I’ve clicked myself here. Very motivational and inspiring!
Thanks a lot!
what you’re doing is actually a form of meditation …focusing the mind to overcome problems and change the way you feel… yes it’s very very powerful!! there seem to be a lot of connections with meditation and religion… maybe because the feeling they get is GODLY! and they feel like some higher power is helping them … the ‘godly higher power’ is actually inside your brain.
Good luck with your latest request. I agree, just before and just after sleep is the best time to work with your subconscious. It will do whatever you request of it without question as long as it is convinced that that is what you (ego/conscious mind) actually want.
I also find affirmations very useful as long as they are not phrased to trigger conflict. For example I AM WEALTHY can backfire if you are in fact skint. I AM BECOMMING WEALTHY/WEALTHIER is better.
Regards, Andy. http://wealthnuggets4u.com – Personal Development Made Easy.
Nice article by author. Mind rest is most essential for health. If you want to sleep there must be subconsciousness that you need to sleep without saying of subconscious you don’t sleep properly and fell ill.
Hi .. the mind is fluid , it never rests. Try to simply sit for a few minutes and you’ll experience it yourself. You haven’t actually understood what the conscience is ; what you call the subconscious is again an impression created by your mind. To really understand your inner being , try to remain very slient .. then you’ll experience the true inner state. Everything else is only your imagination .. beware.
I have used a subconscious trick since I was a teenager to wake up when I needed to. I simply tell myself before I go to sleep that I want to wake up at a certain time, and I do wake up within a few minutes of the time I told myself to get up at. Very good blog entry, and I think I ought to try using the power of my subconscious mind in other areas of my life as well!
This is so true! Sometimes when I’m extremely stressed I’ll just tell myself to just do the tasks at hand, and the next morning, I’m so pumped to actually get my work done!
I think this is a great idea. I am not sure if it will be of help in improving the memory. Many people of age 40+ do complain of memory loss ( short term), which, I believe, is due to unorganized thinking patterns of the mind, giving the sub-conscious mind a directional approach should work towards that end too.
I was doing a little bit different means I don’t have to change a greater part and I believe I will able to do it as soon as possible, thanks karl you given some time to think about.
Actually, psychologists and psychiatrists agree that the ‘subconscious’ mind does not exist. I’m not criticizing the positive thinking/ positive affirmation aspects of your article as these can be very powerful and effectve, however dressing this up with pseudo-psychological lingo to give it more credence is a little dishonest.
Many people are just limiting their selves in what they get through the five senses, this undoubted preventing them from the awesome power of the subconscious mind which go beyond the know five senses. If you just think your subconscious mind power is limited to our five senses you are you are effectively trapping the limitless power of your subconscious mind power in narrow prison. If you really wan to set your mind free you need to be able to accept that there are some things beyond the senses are possible.
great post thanks for sharing this
Excellent post, I sure will give it a try. Thanks for sharing with the rest of us.
Prayer does amazing things!
This comes down to the fact that we are what we think we are. Prayer does help, but we have to realize that we are capable of anything, so yes feed that subconsious mind.
Debbie
Thanks for sharing this idea. I will definitely try it out.
Don’t you think it’s the 5 minutes per day plus that you spend consciously thinking about doing something which is having the effect?
I’ve always come up with my best problem solving ideas in the car.
Ben Koshkin
Thank you for posting this, Ive heard about being to ” induce thought ” on the sub conscious , ive been following the directions for 3 days now , of course there are no HUGE changes , but i feel as though im more balanced and in “peace with my self ..we’ll see where it goes , but thank you for sharing ! Great post
this is so true, i’m glad you blogged about it. I used this technique (i learned it slightly differently but it’s still basically the same) to help me get out of a rut. i was an angry, depressed, drug addicted teen, and when i decided to stop using i felt alone, scared, completely unmotivated. i even became to socially inept to go to the store by myself. i didn’t like what i was becoming, and so, with some help, i started slowly but surely making progress through subconscious requests. i find the key is to not constantly make the same requests, like, don’t “harp on it” or it “resets”. before ya know it i had a job and was a full time student, started making some really great friends and gained confidence, was more active, started eating better… it really does work, granted it takes time!! be patient people!! <3
Playing around with lucid dreaming I discovered how powerful suggestion was whilst falling asleep – it never occurred to me to use it for anything else! Great post!
Karl, I use subconscious suggestion to develop writing ideas, I would think for five minutes before bed about writing projects or problems I needed worked out. Then leave a pencil and notebook beside the bed. I usually got several ideas to finish my work or problem solving techniques. What I have never done is tried to use it for life change. Knowing how successful I have been in the past with problem solving, I believe you have turned me on to a new tool. Thank you.
Whatever the mind of a person can conceive and believe it can achieve..!!
Hey, that is pretty cool, but I found a something else interesting. It is a video about a guy putting a diet coke and mentos in a microwave experiment and then it explodes. I want to see if you think it is fake or not. Check it out at http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pVPZSK77yTw. Tell me if you think it is real or fake.
I went for a physical yesterday at my doctor said I need to lose about 50 pounds. I think 60 is a better idea, but regardless it will require exercise. I am going to start with this experiment and see how things go. I am going to visualize getting up earlier and exercising every morning. Obviously, my being overweight will tell you how I hate exercising so I believe I will be a great test subject to see if this works. I’m printing out your instructions and they will be beside my bed every night. I begin tonight: May 26, 2010.
Thanks for the help.
Enjoyed your post. The book SCORE by Jim Fannin talks about how professional athletes use a technique similar to yours to get into the zone before and during a contest.
I should say you have put a lot of mind on this and are very enlightening. Before reading, I do know subconscious, but not put too much thought on it. Now I get a better understanding. Thanks pal.
Hi! Thank you for this article. it made me smile, laugh and reflect…, a whole lot :)
I’m actually new here, to this site I mean. I just landed myself here when it all started with me googling the book that I’m currently reading : The Power Of Your Subconscious Mind by Dr. Joseph Murphy. such an amazing and well-written book!
I’d love to explore what my subconscious mind is capable of doing.. I’m just taking time to digest the whole thing and continue learning.
As for now, I’m going to request my subconscious mind to direct me to making the best decision in choosing the best college/university, course and path in life.
:)
I’m currently at that point in life so.. this is extremely important to me.
Let’s see how it goes! :)
Thanks again for this article and this fantastic site!
Hema, 17 from Malaysia.
Have a great day!
I agree! The subconscious can process several million bits of information whereas the conscious mind has trouble remembering a simple phone number! Use the subconscious mind! Propose the question “how” can something be accomplished rather than “if” and the subconscious mind will set forth on finding a solution! You can also use this process of proposing a question to the subconscious before beginning meditation. Clear your mind of all thoughts and allow the subconscious mind to do its thing!
Awesome post, Karl!
I actually use this method to envision myself practicing yoga in the morning. It works! Love my yoga time! Although I do sometimes allow myself to slack, I try to keep motivated. :-)
*smiles*
Michele
Something I should consider trying tonight
I’ve tried this before but not for motivation, what a great idea! I used to lay in bed thinking intensely about something that I forgot (ie – name, combination, that one thing on my list…etc) and when I would wake up, within my first hours of waking up, my subconscious would bring it back to my attention, usually with the right direction to figuring it out or, even better, with the answer!
Thanks for this precious post, using subconscious is that i also use time to time.
omg i actually thought i was the only person that did this!
It actually works :D
Now i don’t feel so weird too :P
Isn’t it called ‘praying’?
Prayer is what Dr Joseph Murphy called his exercises discussed with his patients.
We are discussing this book this year every Tuesday 12 noon on bmctalkshow.com
over 125 episodes archived
Interesting blog post! I think I am going to start tonight. I need to picture myself more organized.
That was really interesting. I’ve always believed that our subconscious mind is a lot stronger than our conscious mind.
wow, this is why i love stumbleupon.com, i never would have even thought about this. im the biggest procrastinator and now im going to give this a shot and see if it will help me to be more motivated with school.
I never thought of making a request to your subconscious mind, that is an interesting twist. I definitely believe the importance of fueling your subconscious mind with information that can yield a desired outcome. Focus on what you want, visualize it in your mind first, experience it as real, then allow your subconscious mind to accommodate the actions necessary in order to achieve the desired outcome.
Blessings,
Ron
Is this also one of meditation technique? If not what is the difference of this from meditation?
Well said. It is really nice to read this and be reminded the power of the unconscious mind. I dislike reading or watching articles that leave out the “take action” part. You guide others to take baby steps towards what they want. Which is great. Some preach that it will just manifest itself if you think of it long enough. Well that maybe true, I don’t know, but I rather your way because I don’t want to have to wait too long. I rather guide myself toward the optimal outcome.
its really wonderful to experience dat n i really love it !thank 4 eveything
I’m definitely going to try this. I’m a pianist so I’m pretty sure this would help me practice more.
I found this article/blog incredibly interesting! I’m a pianist as-well and would like to try it for not only practicing more but to be more consistently enthusiastic towards music.
I hope it works well for the both of us*
Now I understand why good ideas often come up when I lie in my bed in the quiet night. I think it will do some help to my insomnia.
Great thoughts. I’m always intrigued by the power of the subconscious. Thought you might also like this article from the New York Times on moments of insight: http://www.scribd.com/doc/4463595/ahha
Thanks a lot for this post, it’s really useful, thanks for sharing!
this is how the quabala teaches us to pray
Hello. I was just stumbling by and stopped. Great post as I have been reading all about the Law of Attraction so I loved the quote to get my mind working while asleep. Sweet dreams!
Sounds like the getting up and going outside gets you used to the idea of jogging. Plus, neuroscience research shows that visualizing yourself doing something actually demotivates you to go out and do it because you already create within yourself that feeling of accomplishment of doing it. So don’t meditate on doing it, meditate on the results of what you’ll get from running and that will motivate you.
Thats really interesting and helpful! im going to give that a shot because im a runner, but consistently demotivated.. hav’nt run in weeks =P
Thanks for the insight.
Hi. I would like to get better at it. I just tell it to wake up at a sertain times and it always does. Just visualise you waking in the morning and see what eve time you want to be up. Anyone can do it. Just set your alarm 10 min later so you give your subcon. a chance to work
Another book recommendation (aside from Power of Subconscious Mind mentioned here) is Reality Transurfing by Vadim Zeland. One of his points of advice: Feel as if you’re already there at thae nextg subgoal towards the ultimate major goal. (Something also Neville said, in his books such as Resurrection.)
Don’t try to force a particular route to your destination.. your higher self, or the Universe knows the perfect way there.
Also, though it may sound contradictoary, Vadim also advises to feel as if it’s easy to do the daily actions and to contemplate yourself successfully, joyfully and easily doing those actions, and when you’re inspired to take different actions, then start doing those while doing daily visualizations of doing those new ones.
We always underestimate the subconscious mind…Thanks for the great info
I never realized just how powerful the subconscious mind was until I started using hypnosis. It definitely helped me to change my life.
I know from personal experience that this works. If you have anything you need to memorize, read it or go over the words if it’s vocabulary, for instance, immediately before going to sleep and you’ll wake up remembering what you read or studied.
Dancing is a good practice before beginning day routine.By doing it, you not only summon up your energy but also listen your favourite songs. And, your subconscious mind sending you a message when you listening.
The subconscious mind is a powerful tool. Not only do I use this technique but since I think about talking about the technique itself I seem to find more information even when I am not looking. Great post.
Very interesting.. i think i should try this to change my life.. and i hop .. this works =)
Great post. I know visualization can have a very powerful affect on creating reality. This is a great reminder to really focus on what I want to achieve. Thanks.
iam very grateful for the wonderful change you have inserted into my life. ever since i subscibed to your website i have been changed alot. i hope to change the minds of many people in Africa who are still living in the past.
thanx for the ebook sent to me.
God bless you.
I was aware about this already, nevertheless there was clearly some beneficial pieces that finalized the picture for me personally, thanks for your time!
These tips are awesome for changing your life… I really like your blog. please keep writing great information .
the mind is simply amazing as to what we can accomplish when we put it to use i have proven this to my self time after time everything from overcoming rejection to overcoming addiction. good stuff
Good advice! I like using meditation to move deep into my subconscious mind. All you need is 15 minutes in the morning and or night. It really makes a difference.
hi Rebecca..i wanna try meditation..would you tell me which kind of meditation you do…
I think Angela `s view is really interesting and that does happen to me all the time.
really good tips its brilliant
All great philosophies, great thoughts, great men/women are born from spending time alone – with no distractions. In our crazy fastpaced world, people work hard not to be alone with t.v., internet, music, noise, distractions, people – when the opposite is needed to birth individuality and great ideas. Thanks for the reminder.
The subconscious mind is a powerful tool as you have shown. It can also help us with decisions. The old adage of “sleeping on it” is a very true one. Trying to force a decisions is often a big mistake. It’s much better to leave the mind to percolate on the matter and wait for the clarity to arrive.
There is though a cautionary aspect to this which is making sure that what we ask of our subconscious and what we feed our mind is good stuff. Playing some shoot-em-up videos game before be is never a wise move!
Until recently I was sure that action is so very important. Feeling and the frequency of vibration, which changes with the feeling, are more important, as you explain here. You first have to get yourself into the feeling of what you want and out of this attitude the ideas come upon which you start to get active. And instead of: “Come and visit me.” it should be: “Let’s visit each other”.
Great article! I enjoyed it.
For all of you who found this blog to be somewhat revealing to the human mind, i suggest two books, both of which are beyond fascinating. “The essentials” and “the spirit in art, man, and literature” both books are written by the brilliant Carl Jung. If you do not have the time to read a book but are still interested. GOOGLE! read a few of his theories and your life will change.
I really Like this Post.. And I’m going to work it out well, from Today itself… I love your “I can” too…
You are very good writer and most attractive virtue is ur simple statement

“Never go to sleep without a request to your subconscious.” – Thomas Edison
Such an inspiring quote. We really must have a positive outlook/ mindset in our everyday living.
I think I have ADHD. I’m going to see a doctor soon, but it would confirm a lot of the oddities in my life. I definitely don’t want to be hooked up in meds all my life, so i’ll be trying this out!
I am definitely trying this out. All my life I have struggled with low self-confidence. I have recently changed careers and I am really fighting this fear of failure and of saying and/or doing the wrong thing…..
I believe in the power if subconcious
All of this sounds like a movie I have seen called “The Secret” and I believe it really works. For those that haven’t seen it I strongly recommend watching it.
I realize this subconscious request to Action just happened for me in past.. I am going to follow this method and going to note down its effectiveness. Thanks for your Awesome ideas!!
Great post I just found it by Stumbling. It is so true about great ideals. I have so many while mowing the lawn, showering or long drives. The problem is I don’t write them down. I think I’ll invest in one of those mini recorders. The subconscious is very powerful so we should be more methodical about tapping into it.
It really works….:) Give it a try :)
If you try to give attention to your subconscious mind, will you lose anything? You are not risking anything by giving attention to the potential of your subconscious mind. All people give attention to the needs of their bodies. Can’t we give the same attention too with the development of our subconscious mind? Why not give attention to something that will give us benefits in return. I believe it will not just be a small amount of return but i believe it will be a life changing benefit to someone who decides to change the way they think by directing their subconscious mind to go towards the right way what an individual wanted throughout his lifetime.
Cool, Definitely going to give this a try!
I read your article, and I find it quite interesting. I believe I’ll try it sometime. There’s something I’ve been wondering for awhile, though (it may or may not relate to this; I’m not very sure). For as long as I’ve had my radio set (and now my iPod docking station), I’ve been listening to music at night to help me sleep better. I’ve also practiced this while I am working. However, over the past few months, I’ve found that I talk to myself whenever I am for the most part alone and it’s quiet. I do this all the time, yet I never seem to do it at all if there’s music playing; this applies to while I’m working at night and when I’m in my bed, ready to go to sleep. Do you think it’s possible that I’ve been subconsciously listening to music to prevent myself from talking so I can focus on my work or falling asleep all this time?
Placebo effect might have a huge play in this, you might “see” this change in the first subconscious request but only in a small way and still be sceptical, then the nest time see it “happen” again and fully believe, thus the placebo takes full hold and all of a sudden you’ve tricked yourself into being better, which I wouldn’t say is wrong, but I doubt its the subconscious.
Involving the subconscious mind enables your to put your brain to more use and hence more powerful and consistent results.
thats true….i can witness every bit of your article
I absolutely love the fact that you are showning Humans the Secerts of their Subconscious…
Our humans seem to know so little about themselves the Powers they Hold to Change Everything…
Ya, great article. I tried to use my subby for years and it didn’t click until I started asking AND taking actions like you said. Now I use it many times a day. Depending on the order of magnitude of my request, I can get something within 24 hours about the question.
I have been doing this already for years and knew that it worked, you won’t believe the shit I’ve figured out.
The Subconcious is taking in more information than we can possibly imagine. When persons have been hypnotized to recall an important occurance, it is described in great detail, even to smells, temperatures and the feeling of the air around them, position of shadows, sounds and their own heart rate. We have a built in recording system. Fortunately we can not constantly access it with our concious mind or we would quickly be overloaded. Relaxing, taking a break, moving on to another activity or going to sleep allows us a more selective access, filtering out the un neccessary info so the most important conclusion is drawn and revealed. Giving ourselves a suggestion before we relax usually quickest way to find out what conclusion our subconcious makes of the situation. Making it a positive suggestion directs that info into a more positive outcome.
This is a great reminder that we need to be constantly learning things about ourselves and how we work so that we can harness our own power to create a new reality. I am reading a book at the moment called Emotional Intelligence by Daniel Goleman which is also linked to this subject on understanding better how the brain works. It is a really interesting book with lots of valuable learning.
Great Post!! People do not understand the power of the subconscious. It’s crazy what it can do. It’s built into our systems and controls are every behavior if we aren’t aware of it. It takes in a lot more informations than anyone can imagine. I was a psychology minor and a fan of Freud (no one likes him haha) and just the way he described the subconscious was fascinating. Great job!
I have been doin this for years subconsciously :D as in without being aware that this is how and why I’m doing it. It’s just before bed – and somehow, it works out. Glad you wrote about the same stuff :) These days it’s happening this way that several stuffs I’ve been doing for years without thinking about it, in some weird way I’m being made more aware: that this is how it is, and why – either by reading something, or someone coming into my life and commenting on it. I’m wondering why, or perhaps I shouldn’t wonder and just go with the flow?
A tag-on comment, in response to what Ellynn says. “The Subconcious is taking in more information than we can possibly imagine.” My trouble is that my subconscious is too on the surface, it’s bubbling up all the time, and sometimes I don’t have a handle on it. When I can channelize it though, it’s cool for drawing writing etc. But yes, overloading is a huge thing – and hopefully these tips, about relaxing, moving on to another activity, sleeping etc, will help. Thanks Ellynn.:)
A friend was talking about this concept just yesterday. I woke up with the newfound purpose in life as a result of that conversation. Thanks a lot for the article Karl, you could never have been more closer to the truth!
Great post! I read a book few years back about power of subconscious mind and the wonders it can do in our life. But i never actually practiced it. now that I read this post, am surely going to put my subconscious mind to work tonight!
I have trying such things since many years…. It gave good results in my career. But It just does not work for my personal life….. Neither subconscious mind, nor prayers seems working for me for my personal happiness….. I guess I only get what I deserve rather than what I desire.

You probably let some negative thought take place in the process. A trick to better monitor your thoughts is to be aware of your emotions. They tell you what are your thought. You feel sad, then you probably have a sad thought in the back of your mind. All you have to do is shift that though toward something joyfull.
Enjoyed the article.
I like the 3 simple steps you outlined – ask, visualize and experience the success exercise.
This is a very powerful 3 step technique for helping change your mindset and visualizing your goals..
I agree, You can add action to your visualisation. Go try the car you desire, visit houses if you desire one, try clothes, shop, do whatever you can do in action to support your thoughts.
Let your subconscious do the work – that’s an old piece of advice that writers will give hyou. If you’ve got a good idea for a story, sleep on it and in the morning you’ll wake up with the story more fully developed. I do it all the time, and it works with other posers too.
Great article. The power from within each and everyone of us. Becareful what you ask for, because you when you receive it, make sure you can handle the outcome.

Thanks for your encouraging article. I have been growing in self-improvement at a fast rate during the past two years beginning with Tony Robbins, Jim Rhon, and others–the film The Secret, and then came across Marie Forleo and Bob Proctor, etc.. I have traded many limiting beliefs for empowering beliefs thanks to these people and now have started understanding much more about my subconscious. I saw your piece just before going to bed tonight. Thanks again.
Interesting read!!.
Bottom line is, when you think positive, things will turn out to be positive.
It could take 10 days , 1 month , 1 year – but eventually it will work out.
Positive thought & positive action, would definitely lead to positive result.
What I found out about subconscious is that it really works. Patience, constant visualisation until it became so immense in your thought and mind that you will achieve what you have set out to be.
The only thing that needs to be aware is positive visualisation because subconscious can’t differentiate between reality and non reality.
I discovered this technique about 8 months ago.
How amazing it has been! There must be more to the subconscience that we don’t know about.
This is an interesting subject to learn about and practice.
Thanks.
I love this post! I have found that listening to a hypnosis mp3 with brainwave entrainment while falling asleep will influence the subconscious very quickly. I have have been able to wake up feeling way more energized and happy using your method of talking with my subconscious. Thanks for this post!
What to do when you have more then one requests which are equaly important.
Your subconscious can handle thousands of task in the same time. You heartbeat, your breathing when you sleep. To manifest in your life what you desire, you need to vizualize not only the thing you want but the emotion behind it.
In fact, the subconscious is the connection of our own conscious to the universal mind. He knows all and can attract to us the answer we are looking for at any given moment. He records everything without judgement. It’s just is…
I just came across this post. Better late than never I suppose ;-)
Anyway, I’ve been doing a shortened version of this since I was a kid. Not exactly sure how I came up with it, but perhaps I knew about this intuitively.
Whenever I’m laying in bed and want to remember or note something for the following day (e.g. to remember to pickup bananas from the store), I would close my eyes, come up with a short phrase (e.g. get bananas) and repeat it over and over until I felt that it sank in. Invariably, I would always remember that thing in the morning. The key was that it sank in, a point I would somehow know I’ve reached.
I like your post, I am not looking for a job, but starting something I can do at home. Your post help you to think about telling yourself a story. It is like when we were little, our little mind feed of stories weather good or bad, but the point is if you tell yourself the story long enough and feel that it could be sure, on some level you will manifest it into your physical reality.
Good job
I really loved your post regarding how to change life using subconscious mind.
Keep writing!
Thanks for this tip Karl! I will definitely be practicing this before bed :-)
About a year ago I was very ill with M.E. (chronic fatigue syndrome) and one of the things that I used to get better was subconsciously visualising myself better – working out in the gym, socialising with friends again etc. Every day, hundreds of times, I told my subconscious that I was fit and healthy.
In only 7 days I had fully recovered.
I am a true believer that miracles can happen when you harness the power of the subconscious.
Hi Karl, This is a REALLY important concept that most people just do not understand, and I’ve also been working with and writing about the subconscious mind. About 3 years ago or so, I happened upon the work of Ernest Holmes, who was the founder of the Science of Mind, and it immediately “clicked” with me – all of a sudden the way my mind (conscious and subconscious) works became much more clear.
Now, while Ernest Holmes’ work (The Science of Mind) is a really long book, and is one that I spend tons of time pondering and studying, there is another author who makes it a little easier to understand – Joseph Murphy, who wrote “The Power of Your Subconscious Mind.” It’s a little more reader-friendly, and explains the subconscious as the “medium” where you plant your “thought seed” – and yes, practicing the technique you describe works very well prior to bed.
Just last month, I was thinking about how much I wanted to attend a certain conference, but couldn’t quite justify the expense at the time. However, I REALLY wanted to go, so I made the decision to plant the idea of seeing myself at the conference.
Within TWO DAYS of putting that intention forth, I was given an opportunity to attend the conference from a most unexpected source. The whole thing gave me chills!
Oh boy… I could (and actually DO) write about this and talk about this all day long. But, for your readers who might be questioning this, all I would say to them is to try it, with deep faith that “as within, so without” and that what we think about, we bring about. Powerful stuff!
I read a book by Tom Hopkins about 20 years ago about sales. He recommends writing a list of your 6 most important task for the next day as the last thing you do before you go to bed, so your mind will work on solving the tasks while you sleep.
He also recommends reciting your long term goals every morning and every night into a mirror. Sounds corny, but it has worked for me to achieve my goals.
Thanks for this article. I just asked assistance from my subconscious. Hopefully, we’ll get along. Hehe! : )
Love this article. The subconscious is a powerful driver in all our lives. It’s s must we use it wisely to make progress.
Wow! That’s a great article! I tried this before and it works very well and amazingly quickly! I find that it works even better when falling asleep with a recording of the affirmation!
I love talking to my subconscious especially just before I go to sleep, leaving your subconscious mind with a question or request before you sleep is a great way to wake up motivated and sometimes with an answer to your question.
I agree with your point about visualization, this is a must, it is like living it before it actually happens, a good way to bring things into your reality.
I am a fan of meditation as well, or just taking the time to relax and listen to some soothing music, whilst talking to my subconscious and visualizing the results.
It is also a good idea to feel relaxed about your requests, then they seem to happen a lot easier and without resistance.
Great article. I am a certified hypnotherapist currently working with a client to have more lucid dreams and this post was quite helpful. Thank you.
Excellent article. Thanks. I’ve been practising mindfulness a lot over the last few years and have found that to be very effective in bringing awareness to each present moment.
I look forward to trying this approach too.
very true post. I love the way how you go in detail. I believe that a large part of your feeling is subconsious and that we have to kind of take control of that. Maybe not even control , but understand how you roll, and roll with it..
Great Post! I have to try this. Visualisation is so important to achieving your goals. “Thoughts become things … choose good ones”
Great post… I really do believe in the power of the subconscious, and this article displays this power. we become what we think about.. therefore think about your dreams and visions and believe you are already there and they will come in due course.
thanks chris
Interesting. Worth a shot for such little effort.
I’m always using subconscious requests to get a better night’s rest if I’m only bound to get less than the required sleep. It almost always never disappoints!
I loved this post on the subconscious, as it is very effective…
In my books, this should be taught in the education system, as it is quite concerning how few people understand the subconscious, as well as how to make simple and yet powerful requests.
And I totally agree with the opening comments. I have recieved brilliant ideas while I am slightly distracted. It seems, that you can only access your subsconsion indirectly, whicn you can do while consciously distracting yourself using various methods.
Thanks for posting
Yeah, this one is nice! I remember when I was in my school my teacher use to tell about the subconscious mind. Sometime we really do wonder if we do believe and act accordingly. Nice to read this and wish to read more from you in future!
This is fantastic! Thanks so much for posting.
Yes, the amazing abilities of the subconscious make a great topic for discussion. It acts like our control tower and gives orders to the conscience which is why we have to be so very careful with our self-talk because the subconscious goes to work finding ways to deliver on what we requested.
This is an interesting thing. The subconscious mind can have a deep impact in our lives so it should be given attention.
I love this!
It seems like another unique way to get connected to ones subconscious mind…
Funnily, I just discovered how to manipulate my subconscious mind and thus, some nicest kinds of stuff just fund their means to my path
I just got the courage to start my self-help blog about two weeks ago, which I’ve always dreamed of…
Keep it up Karl✊
Great piece of article.
Dr. Joseph Murphy’s book The Power of Your Subconscious Mind is one of the best books that changed many people’s life. The modern science is yet to fully understand the power of subconscious mind, though we just have only examples what it can do.
This article was short, but right to the point on mindset you should have and actions to take.
Thanks again for the post.
Loved the post!
